How to go to work in Lagos Life
Clock in through Phone → Jobs / Career → Go to work. You can start once per rostered day, from 06:00 to before 22:00, while in the workplace’s city.

Leaving early uses that day’s shift. Under 10% completion pays zero base wages; 10%–25% pays a quarter-shift minimum. A Banking Marketer’s quarter-shift base is ₦2,900.

How to go to work in Lagos Life: start a shift
- Open the phone’s Jobs / Career panel. If you have no current job, apply for an available local career and meet its entry requirements first.
- Check the game day and clock. It must be one of your career’s workdays, at least 06:00, and before 22:00. Stay in the city containing your workplace.
- Choose the offered commute and use Go to work. Wait for the active work panel rather than starting a separate map trip to the building.
- Choose a work approach, respond to work tasks when offered, and watch progress alongside your needs. The salary settles when the shift ends.
- Read the receipt and compare the balance. Include a commute charge separately when calculating the money you kept.
Your Lagos Life work schedule describes the career’s timetable. An active shift has its own progress clock. Banking’s 08:00–17:00 schedule does not mean a nine-real-hour browser wait, and its printed 08:00 start does not prevent a valid 06:00 clock-in. Follow the next-shift and active-work panels for the current opportunity and remaining progress.
Clocking in by the early-bird time shown in the career panel adds 3 performance points. That can help a promotion plan, but it does not replace the next skill requirement or guarantee a full-shift wage before you finish.
Choose a work approach without emptying your needs
Do Your Work is the steady option. Work Like Jaguda pushes performance harder while draining more Energy and Fun. Use it when your Sim can sustain the shift, then restore those bars afterward. Starting with very low needs can turn an aggressive work plan into an early departure.
Gist with Colleagues raises Social but advances performance more slowly. Take Am Easy saves Energy while reducing performance gain. Suck Up to Oga is a riskier approach: Charisma improves its chance of a favorable result.
Work tasks can appear during the shift. Four won tasks qualify that shift for a 15% star wage bonus. Read the task while it is active and choose its offered response; a missed prompt does not count as a win. Budget from the final receipt rather than adding the bonus to every future shift.
Partial pay: why your receipt differs from the salary

Leaving work early in Lagos Life ends the shift and settles the completed portion. Use the Leave work early (partial pay) control when you need to stop. Below 10% completion, the base partial payment is zero. From 10% to 25%, it uses a quarter-shift minimum. Beyond that, the completed fraction applies up to a full shift. The wage calculation rounds to the nearest ₦50 before income tax.
For a Banking Marketer’s ₦11,600 base salary, a quarter shift is ₦2,900 and half a shift is ₦5,800 before bonuses and tax. A third-party Banking record on 7 October reported a ₦2,900 partial receipt and a separate ₦150 commute, leaving ₦2,750 from those two transactions. Use the example to separate pay from travel, then use your own receipt for your balance.
An active wage policy can add 15%; degree bonuses and the work star bonus also affect eligible pay. The career card remains a base comparison. Compare a larger or smaller receipt with the completed fraction and active bonuses before treating it as missing money.
Why is Go to work missing?
- No current job: apply from Jobs first; browsing a career does not hire your Sim.
- Day off or outside the start window: you can start on a rostered workday from 06:00 to before 22:00, even when the career’s printed timetable starts later.
- Already worked today: only one shift is allowed that working day, including a shift you ended early.
- Wrong city: return to the city containing the workplace.
- Travelling, already working, in jail, or seriously ill: resolve that state before trying to start a shift.
- Connection error: keep the message, reconnect once, and check whether a shift already started before repeating the action.
How work leads to a promotion
The game checks for promotion when the shift ends, including an early departure. You need 100% performance and the next skill threshold shown in your career or Refining track. A new ordinary job starts at 50% performance; a successful promotion resets it to 45%. Skills and performance solve different parts of the requirement.
If the game says your boss wants to promote you but names a missing skill, complete the matching training action before your next shift. For example, a Tech Intern with 100% performance still needs Coding 1 for Junior Dev. After promotion, the career panel shows the new title; the higher base salary applies to later shifts.
Before the next workday, eat, sleep, and wash using your current furniture. Serious illness blocks clock-in even if today is a workday; the health and recovery steps explain the treatment route. If a receipt and balance still disagree after accounting for separate charges, record the amounts and follow the balance and save checklist.

These examples exclude bonuses and income tax, and use the game’s ₦50 wage rounding. An ended shift cannot be restarted on the same rostered day. A commute is charged separately, so ₦2,900 pay with ₦150 transport adds ₦2,750 to cash before unrelated bills.
When does the higher salary start?
When a shift ends, the game checks 100% performance and the next skill gate, including after an early departure. That shift’s pay uses the title held before promotion, although the summary can already show the new title. The higher salary starts with later shifts.
