Lagos Life businesses: prices, net proceeds and payback
One of eight Lagos Life businesses, the ₦150,000 Recharge & Data Kiosk lists ₦2,500–₦5,000 proceeds and ₦1,800 operating cost, leaving ₦700–₦3,200 in an ordinary collection scenario.
Updated

Business payback uses net per collection, not gross proceeds. The kiosk’s purchase takes 215 low-end or 47 high-end ordinary collections to recover; bad days can extend that path.

| Barbing Salon | Ikeja | ₦6,000,000 | ₦66,000–₦133,000 | ₦40,000 | ₦26,000–₦93,000 |
| Car Wash | Lekki | ₦15,000,000 | ₦167,000–₦309,000 | ₦105,000 | ₦62,000–₦204,000 |
| Event Centre | Ikoyi | ₦60,000,000 | ₦585,000–₦1,171,000 | ₦430,000 | ₦155,000–₦741,000 |
| Quilox Share (5%) | Victoria Island | ₦250,000,000 | ₦1,795,000–₦3,585,000 | ₦1,150,000 | ₦645,000–₦2,435,000 |
Net range subtracts each asset’s listed operating cost from its proceeds. It excludes bad-day outcomes. These Lagos Life businesses tie up between ₦150,000 for the kiosk and ₦250 million for a 5% Quilox Share; a larger collection does not by itself recover a larger purchase faster.
For example, the ₦300,000 Zobo & Chapman Stand lists ₦1,800–₦5,800 ordinary net. Recovering its purchase at those two ends takes 167 or 52 whole collections. The kiosk takes 215 or 47. Neither has a uniformly shorter recovery path across the whole range.
Use the Lagos Life business payback calculator
Enter a purchase price, one collection’s gross proceeds and that collection’s operating cost. If your receipt already gives net profit, enter that amount as proceeds and zero for costs. A ₦1,950 net receipt reduced again by ₦1,800 would incorrectly become ₦150.
Try the lower and higher listed proceeds separately. The calculator compares chosen collection scenarios; it does not read your ownership panel, average your history or schedule future payments.
How many collections recover the purchase price?
Net per collection is proceeds minus operating costs. Divide the purchase price by that net amount and round up to a whole collection. At ₦1,555 net, a ₦150,000 purchase takes about 96.46 collections, so the first complete break-even count is 97.
If costs equal or exceed proceeds, that scenario has no positive break-even. The result is a count of collections, not a promise of days or weeks. Use your actual settlement timing before converting it into a calendar estimate. A missed collection or a bad day changes the recovery path even when the purchase price stays the same.
Kiosk payback: compare three earning scenarios
For the Recharge & Data Kiosk in Lagos Life, listed proceeds of ₦2,500–₦5,000 and operating costs of ₦1,800 leave ₦700–₦3,200 in an ordinary collection scenario. That is the useful range for this comparison, rather than treating all ₦5,000 as profit.
| Kiosk scenario | Proceeds | Operating cost | Net | Collections to recover ₦150,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lower listed proceeds | ₦2,500 | ₦1,800 | ₦700 | 215 |
| Middle-of-range example | ₦3,750 | ₦1,800 | ₦1,950 | 77 |
| Higher listed proceeds | ₦5,000 | ₦1,800 | ₦3,200 | 47 |
The middle example uses ₦3,750 proceeds and ₦1,950 net, giving 77 collections. It is a chosen scenario, not a measured average. At the lower end, recovery takes 215 collections; at the higher end, 47. Bad days are outside this simple ordinary-collection comparison and can push recovery later.
Use the three results to test your plan: could you keep paying your own bills if collections stay near the low end? If the purchase only feels affordable when every result reaches the high end, save a larger reserve first.
Keep a personal bill reserve before buying
A ₦200,000 wallet would leave ₦50,000 immediately after a ₦150,000 kiosk purchase. If your planning period also contains an unpaid ₦2,400 rent bill and ₦12,000 LAPO repayment, reserving those charges leaves ₦35,600 for meals, transport and other spending. The reserve is money you still hold until those bills are collected.
Use your own background and notices: Nepo rent support or student terms change the personal bill plan. A Mushin LAPO opening wallet of ₦76,000 cannot cover the kiosk purchase in the first place. Do not count its loan again, or use a business collection you have not received to fill the purchase-price gap. Use the cash budget calculator alongside the payback result.
Record proceeds and operating costs from one collection
| Receipt wording | Calculator entry |
|---|---|
| ₦3,750 proceeds; ₦1,800 operating cost | Enter 3,750 and 1,800: net ₦1,950. |
| ₦1,950 net profit, cost already deducted | Enter 1,950 proceeds and 0 operating cost. |
| A bad-day loss | Record the loss separately; the positive-net payback scenario does not cover it. |
| Payment pending or connection failed | Reopen the ownership panel and wallet before counting the payment. |
Update the scenario with completed collections. The payback result is a collection count, so converting 77 collections into 77 days would require a separately established settlement schedule. If the wallet still differs from the receipt, use the balance ledger to account for unrelated charges.
Passive businesses and registered companies use different budgets
The eight assets above are separate from player-run companies with branches, employees and industry setup. Company registration lists a ₦50,000 fee before those additional costs. A registered Food spot or Tech startup is therefore not a different name for the passive Buka or kiosk investment.
When comparing a company, include its own setup, wages, branch costs and current terms. Do not import a passive asset’s proceeds into that budget. For a first passive purchase, check whether you can cover the upfront price and personal reserve, and whether you accept a recovery period that changes with actual collections.
